Diagnostic specimens are time- and temperature-critical — a missed pickup or a grounded carrier can invalidate a result. So we don’t rent our logistics. Specialty Labs contracts directly with airlines and runs its own ground couriers across every service area, which means we move samples on days, routes, and conditions the national carriers won’t.
We own the network end to end
We hold specimen-transport agreements directly with commercial carriers — not through a freight broker — so island-to-mainland samples fly on scheduled lift we control, with same-day connections between our labs.
Pickup and last-mile delivery run on Specialty Labs couriers and routes across Puerto Rico, the US, and the US Virgin Islands — dedicated drivers who know the clinics, not a rotating third-party fleet.
When UPS and FedEx suspend service — remote areas, holidays, weather, cut-off windows — our controlled network keeps moving, so specimens still reach the bench in time.

Our own inter-island lift moves specimens from both U.S. Virgin Islands to the San Juan hub on daily, temperature-controlled runs — no dependence on national carriers that skip the territory.
